Welcome to the Park Evangelical Church web site. We hope that it gives you an insight into Park Church and encourages you to come and visit us.
Our church building has been standing in Shelton since 1903. Every Sunday about 125 people of various ages, backgrounds and denominations meet for worship. Many come from the area around Shelton, so we are very much a local church for the local community. Staffordshire University is right on our doorstep and we are always pleased to welcome and encourage university students. Many have found their spiritual home with us and some have stayed on after their studies have finished. Over the years we have also had the priviledge of welcoming friends from many different nationalities.
At both our morning and evening services we sing hymns, modern worship songs, pray and hear the Bible explained in a simple and straightforward way. The services are followed by refreshments and we warmly invite you to join us as we worship God and seek to know His will for our lives. Over the years hundreds of people have come to love and appreciate this pattern of Sunday worship in which all ages are encouraged to feel part of the Service.
We are Evangelical in our beliefs, and Bible-based in our teaching. We believe that a person can only come into a right relationship with God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. We believe that explaining and applying God's Word in a relevant and accessible way is essential to the growth of all true believers. So a significant amount of time is given to preaching from the Bible by those gifted for this work.
Throughout the week, at various groups, activities and events, we pray, study and encourage each other to grow in faith, using our gifts to help others and to present the Christian message in a credible, relevant and challenging way.
We have an enthusiastic Sunday School with appropriate groups for all ages. We are always pleased to receive new children and young people. In these days when so many young people and families are uncertain about spiritual things we believe that the life and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ can give us clear direction and the power to live a life that pleases God.
Within our fellowship we have experience of a range of abilities. These include learning difficulties, physical disabilities and mental illness. We also recognise our wider social and legal responsibilities. We have recently built an extension to our building including a ramp to allow disabled access. We have an induction loop system in the main hall and the church lounge. We seek to fulfil our responsibilities towards health and safety and the safeguarding of children. The church has an agreed Child Protection Policy.
We assure you of a warm welcome to our Church.
